タカサ / TAKASA

Measure any height
just by walking

That building you looked up at. That tree in the park. Your iPhone's camera and your own footsteps are all you need.

Download on the App Store
θ d h

Two steps

  1. Walk away from the target Your steps are counted automatically and multiplied by your stride to get the distance. Manual entry also works.
  2. Point the camera at the top Takasa reads the tilt of your iPhone and calculates the height from the angle and distance.

Goes beyond LiDAR

Apple's built-in Measure app relies on LiDAR, which only reaches about 5 meters. That is not enough for a building.

Takasa calculates from distance and angle instead, so it handles structures tens of meters tall. No special sensor required.

About accuracy

Results are approximate. Sloped ground, variation in stride length and the estimated height at which you hold your iPhone all affect the result. Not suitable for professional surveying.
